About this event
In conjunction with the Saratoga Performing Arts Center’s event Lotus Girl with Helen Tworkov, on Tuesday, November 17, at 6pm, the Tang presents a painting and drawings by Jack Tworkov (1900–1982), newly acquired to the Tang collection. The work will be on view from Monday, November 16, through Thursday, November 19, Noon–5pm, with extended hours on Thursday to 9pm.
The free program at SPAC celebrates Helen Tworkov’s memoir, Lotus Girl: My Life at the Crossroads of Buddhism and America. Tworkov, the founding editor of Tricycle: The Buddhist Review, will be in conversation with Benjamin Bogin, Skidmore College Associate Professor of Asian Studies.
The conversation will explore Tworkov’s spiritual journey, her upbringing in New York’s vibrant art world as the daughter of acclaimed Abstract Expressionist painter Jack Tworkov, her reflections on Buddhism’s evolution in the West, and the experiences and encounters that inspired her memoir.
Free and open to the public.
