About this event
Are you passionate about nature and literature? Join us for a thought-provoking discussion at the Champlain Area Trails conservation book club on Tuesday, June 10th, from 5 PM to 6 PM. This month, we will delve into "The God of the Woods," an engaging novel by Liz Moore.
In the Adirondacks, when thirteen-year-old Barbara Van Laar, daughter of the wealthy family who owns the local summer camp, goes missing in August 1975, it sends shockwaves through the community. Her disappearance echoes the mysterious vanishing of her brother fourteen years earlier. As a search unfolds, the story explores the tensions between long-established local communities and the affluent families that have long vacationed in the region, delving into the secrets and dynamics of both worlds.
“Extraordinary . . . Reminds me of Donna Tartt’s 1992 debut, The Secret History . . . I was so thoroughly submerged in a rich fictional world, that for hours I barely came up for air.” —Maureen Corrigan, Fresh Air, NPR
