Courthouse Gallery : Maria Mangano (4:00 PM - 6:00 PM)
Maria Mangano explores her connection with the natural world through prints, works on paper, and installations. Her work focuses on the intersection of nature, museums, academia and science to address issues of wildness, wilderness, conservation, memory, and humanness. She says these systems “create a lens that affects our understanding of nature: how that lens influences people’s opinions, how it alienates us from or compares us to the natural world, how it inspires awe and wonder, and how it causes us to alter nature in the very act of observing it. Studying the systems and methods we use to dissect and define [the natural world] tell us as much about humanity as they do the natural world; nature, on the other side of the lens of human culture, becomes a mirror.”

Farmers and chefs who already have successful relationships will share their experience. Find out how buying local can also be friendly to your bottom line. Sponsored by Adirondack Harvest, SUNY Adirondack and the Tri-County Transition Initiative, the goals of this gathering are to increase usage of fresh, locally grown, raised and prepared foods, thus increasing accessibility, supplying a greater demand and creating more opportunities for local farming. We are also working with Warren County Tourism to identify and promote restaurants and accommodations featuring locally sourced foods on their menus. This is the first step toward a series of dining festivals featuring local food and craft beverages (wine, beer and spirits) that would greatly benefit tourism, farming and local food production in the Lake George Region. Farmer/Value Added Producer Tables are a $10.00 fee to Adirondack Harvest. Breakfast offerings by Chef AJ Richards donated by Dunham’s Bay Resort.
